Water hardness is caused by a high content of minerals in the water, mainly calcium and magnesium, which form limescale when the water is heated. Water hardness shows up, for example, as limescale deposits, blockages in pipes and equipment, and a distinctive taste. Limescale significantly shortens the life of household appliances and heating equipment and increases energy consumption. Hard water also leaves skin dry and hair frizzy when washing.
Water softening is a process that removes calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg) ions from the water and replaces them with sodium (Na). This is achieved with special water softeners that use ion exchange technology.
Softened water is similar to rainwater, so you need less detergent when showering and when washing hands and laundry. If the water is used for drinking, water softeners can be set so that a low water hardness is retained after the unit, which gives the drinking water a pleasant taste.
Miridon’s PA and PAC series water softeners can be installed in both apartment buildings and private houses, and they ensure good water quality.
Note: to ensure efficient operation of water treatment equipment and optimal water quality, we recommend following the manufacturer’s instructions for installation, use and maintenance.
