Why does water treatment equipment need regular maintenance?
People who have bought a water treatment unit quickly get used to the convenience – no more worrying about white laundry getting dirty when washing, white spots on glasses or scrubbing the shower corner. Because the unit works fairly independently and automatically, people tend to forget that a water treatment unit exists somewhere at all.
Unfortunately, all equipment needs more thorough maintenance and cleaning from time to time, and water treatment equipment is no exception. The most vulnerable places in the unit’s controller are the injectors, valves and channels through which the water moves and which have a very small diameter. It is these that need to be cleaned regularly, and it is important here that the maintenance work is done by a competent service technician, because if you start cleaning a water treatment unit yourself, you can ruin the unit altogether. During regular maintenance, Miridon’s service technician also checks the whole house’s water system in addition to the water treatment equipment, since these are directly linked to each other.
Skipping maintenance breaks the unit
If the units are not cleaned regularly, the channels clog and the solution used for backwashing no longer passes through the unit, the valves no longer open and close fully, and the result is a much more expensive replacement of the control head. The same goes for the house’s water system – if pre-filters are not replaced and the hydrophore is not checked, the water treatment units will not backwash properly, and the result is poor-quality water and, in the worst case, burnout of the borehole pump or the automatic water supply unit.
The quality of groundwater can also change over time, which is why water samples are also taken on site during maintenance, so that the necessary changes can be made to the program when needed.
How often should a water treatment unit be serviced?
We recommend having maintenance done once a year. Carrying out regular maintenance gives Miridon’s specialists a good overview of the problems with customers’ equipment. Miridon uses a maintenance program to monitor the condition of the equipment, which gives an overview of the main problem areas of a site and the work needed, and if the customer has questions, we can always provide information.
Because ordering regular maintenance often gets forgotten in everyday life, we recommend that our customers (both private customers and businesses) enter into maintenance contracts with us, under which we contact the customer ourselves at the right time and carry out the maintenance. This gives customers extra peace of mind that they have not been left alone with their concerns. It should be mentioned that the contract obliges us to respond within a short time. This shows that it is not only large companies that are the most important – we care about private customers as well.
Water treatment equipment is not a small investment, so the equipment must be maintained regularly, because only in this way is the equipment’s life extended.
